Upper cut

Hello readers!  I'll be guest blogging while Maddie is away so I hope you continue to visit.  We've got some great projects to collaborate on and I'm excited to start sharing them with you!  I'm a Yankee figuring out how to continue my personal style while entering the full time workforce.  I started to work last July and I'd say I've made great strides.  Feel free to visit my blog The Sentimentalist to learn more about me.  I'll be posting here regularly and look forward to showing you what Maddie and I have been cooking up!
She prepared some inspiration pictures for me to use while posting.  It is like a gift from her to us while she is unable to keep up with her blog!  For this post, I focused on the pictures of her lavender floral cutout dress.
{Me wearing my cutout dress}
{Aren't her cutout details and that ribbon so cute?}
{My cutout details}
{Her dress print and button details}
{My neckline detailing and flower pin}
I think cutout dresses are quite versatile.  As Maddie demonstrated, they are great for layering and allowing fun fabrics to show through.  I choose to show the use of a cutout dress during hot weather {over 90F and 100% humidity!}.
What's your take on cutout detailing?

I'm gonna take you surfing safari

A HECTIC WEEK! phoooeeeey!

I've finished college, I'm packing up all my belongings, I'm finishing my job and I'm getting all nostalgic

Thanks to my job I went and saw my favourite band from when I was 17/18, We Are Scientists. I didn't get as giddy as I would've done as a teen but did enjoy them a lot, their new album Barbara is good and the inside album sleeve is hilarious, I recommend it. I've seen and met them a few times before and I'm sure it's going to be an anecdote I will tell my kids one day to convince them I was cool. Isn't the lead singer, Keith Murray, so pretty?

Since I'm in the USA for the summer, I also met up with my brothers to goodbye, it's crazy how unlike I look to them- they're blonde and tanned, I'm pale and brunette. So pale, in fact, that my older brother told me I was blue! We took a photo to compare

Do any of you look drastically unlike your siblings?

And I also had a picnic/barbie at mine as a leaving do, it was so much fun but I drank a lil too much sangria!
We found THE creepiest cups ever! They're in a cheap store and we couldn't not buy them.

Scary, yes?

I wore the cutest dress in the whole wide world, but unfortunately I didn't get any good photos- you can just about make out the cartoon hearts in this awful one

Gem Fatale has an amazing giveaway, and I mean amazing! Check it out on her awesome blog http://gemfatale.blogspot.com

I fly on Monday and as I've mentioned, I have a guest blogger while I'm away :)

I hope you all have the most fantastic summer!

lotsa love Pierrot le Fou

aladdin's cave

I've been sorting through my belongings and I'm so incredibly bored of packing. I've become seriously sharp with Trash/Treasure and the charity bag is now beyond big. There's something quite empowering about getting rid of things that I've held onto for too long.

I keep singing a line from Marina&tD's 'Oh No!' (coincidentally her next single) in my head- 'If you are not very careful, your possessions will possess you'- every time I pick something up  and ponder whether I need it or not.

It's really struck me how much of a hoarder I am! I have enough tack to open up shop! I'm donating it though because although I could do with the money I could make, I can't be dealing with the stress of selling it and if someone else can benefit from my stuff then awesome!

One of the places I'm going to miss when I move is the Northern Quarter in my town centre. It's an arty, vibrant area (where I saw Sherlock Holmes being filmed :) ) full of independent boutiques, record shops and alternative bars and cafes.

Ryan's Vintage is probably the most notorious vintage haunt (although the bag says 'It's not vintage stupid! It's second hand'.. I tried not to take being called stupid too personally)

It's a bit of an Aladdin's cave and I thought I'd share you some pictures

What's your favourite shop unique to where you live?

I think the flourishing vintage industry reflects well that the whole human race are massive hoarders.
Do you reckon that today's high street clothes are of high enough quality to last a couple of generations and become 'Vintage' items?

In other news I'm pleased to announce that the lovely Lisa from The Sentimentalist will be guest blogging for gladragstoriches while I'm away :D
Not long to go now yikes!

i might be holding your hand but i'm holding it loose

Although todays weather is the pits, summer has arrive with all its musical cheesiness and I'm embracing it all with fully open arms. The sun does silly things to me, I'm usually the biggest music snob but my spotify playlists are just full of merry pop :)

I also hold the sun responsible for all the irresponsible spending I've done. I've bought so many pretty clothes lately with the outlook 'oh, this'll look so great on the Las Vegas strip!' and other holiday related idealisms.

But moving house means I'm having to reduce my wardrobe by two thirds- I've seriously got to get rid of SO much stuff! It's mainly unsuitable, plain or ill fitting clothes and as a lot of it has barely been worn I'm just sour about splitting with it all. Realistically I should've spent my money on fewer items that I treasured to death, rather than bought loads of cheap average items.

I was in a shop and fell in love with two items, purely for their fabric. They fit so badly, but I was still tempted to buy them

gorgeous, yes? But my new outlook to buying clothes is not just 'will I regret not buying it?' but 'Does this do anything for me?' as well.

Have/Do you ever buy clothes irresponsibly?

Now some of my attempts to dress summery whilst hiding my legs (wax booked for next monday. can.not.come.fast.enough)

I set the pictures to original size to stop the stripe strobing, hope they don't take too long to load!

and it feels better than love

glorious sunshine is back, alas I am still waiting on a leg wax so having to wear leggings! Gah! I'll be absolutely gutted if the wax actually only lasts a week or two

I worked an 11 hour night shift this week, it was a surreal experience. At 8am (and the 10th hour of working) my brain was so fuzzled and when I cycled home I couldn't quite turn and cycled into a bush. I would've been slightly embarrassed but wasn't awake enough to care (don't worry- I cycled on a cycle path, I'd never go in the road in such a condition)
The pay will be nice spending money for America though :)

I'm not entirely sure what to do with the blog during the summer-whether anyone wants to step in and guest blog or if I should just leave it?

I got this dress from H&M. The mother says I looked like I was wearing a prison hospital gown which made me inclined to return it

Sandals- Primark

It's pretty neon in the flesh
