Decade closing to an end

It's crazy! I can remember celebrating the big 2-0-0-0 so vividly it makes me feel ooold! It still makes me laugh to think of how wound up about the millienium bug people got..

It seems too close since I celebrated last NYE to be honest, the year's had it's ups and downs but mostly it's been positive-I've learnt so much and bonded with people I really value....and I begun blogging!

Highlights of the Decade

high school/family holiday to rome/visiting my friend in tokyo/music school/when i realised how valuable the friends i had were/overcoming an illness/being 19/the very non-health&safety christmas party at school/the very outrageous slave auction/music festivals/seeing blondie, brian wilson, blur, david byrne, scissor sisters, css, franz f, the cure amongst others live/my employments/work experience at T.D/getting close to my family/great days out/starting new/meeting certain people/nights out/my drama class/parties/growing up

Different looks I've sported

How do you feel about the last decade? Is it full of good memories, valuable lessons or funny experiences?

I really hope you all have a fantastic NYE and the next year and decade treats you all very well!

got no deeds to do, no promises to keep

Yesterday my brothers and I went and saw Avatar. I was reluctant to see it as I thought it looked very predictable and a bit schmultzy.. I mean I love, like love The Terminator films and Aliens but James Cameron's Titanic is my least favourite film ever... I know, controvesial! But I'm glad I saw Avatar, it was enjoyable!

Before getting cinema tickets I had a quick pop into a couple of shops-big mistake! They should send potential army candidates or people into Sales for SAS training!

I got the above dress and berret from Miss Selfridge sale before Christmas/when everyone goes mad and feel privaledged to have got a good bargain without any traumatic stress or injuries. The dress was £7 and the hat £5, plus my student discount :)

Anyone dared to go bargain hunting? Have you recovered?

do the locomotion

clothes from the back of my wardrobe

been so busy! work is manic, you'd think people would be spending the seasonal holidays with family and loved ones, but people love their bargains and sales i guess!

I have no new year eves plans of yet! should i be set on finding a party or club to go to or go with the flow and see where I end up? (an optimistic outlook, hoping that I don't end up sharing it with a glass of wine and two people playing video games)

Christmas was lovely, not many strange-assed presents this year, I did get a 'Snood' though, which, despite the adverts best efforts, is not as stylish as it appears. I'm adament on discovering a decent way of working it into an outfit so we'll see what happens! Did you get anything weird? I think last years gift of a rape alarm remains unbeaten as 'bizaarest gift'

Lastly, I'm moving house, which means parting with a lot of items- including barely worn clothes and accessories that don't fit me or are unpractical in the cold northern climate...if anyone's interested in doing a swap lemme kno :) !

although it's been said many times, many ways

Homemade dress; Liberty Print

It's funny, now the concept of a white christmas is a reality, it's not as sweet and cute as the idea would suggest. The truth is skidding on ice, frost getting in your shoes and a load of gross grey slush spraying from cars and lorries.

It does look might pretty though ;)

I've come down with a throat infection and the sneezes, bad times! Strepsils come in strawberry flavour now which I got a bit excited about, they taste remeniscent of Capul, which lets face it, none of us took as kids because we really felt that ill

Hope you all have a really great christmas !

unlikely fashion icon of the week

Danny Torrence in Kubrick's The Shining. That kid has the most amazing collection of knitwear!

Without the patience or ability to knit such great patterns I customised my own version

geek out

So last thursday i managed to get tickets to a small party in honor of the show Misfits. Relevant to the plot of the show, everyone had to wear orange 'community service' boiler suits as their ticket in- the only orange I now have in my wardrobe! You can see how I tried to make mine a bit individual.

It was so fun though- in an old vaudeville style theatre in East London. There were bands, DJs, drinks, popcorn and cast members.. i met the gorgeous Iwan Rheon who plays the character Simon-

Here's the trailer for the series, it's a pretty adult comedy-drama... many describe it as a cross between Skins and Heroes. anyway, I love it

champagne

I got a varsity jacket, it's so warm but makes me look a bit butch and chunky haha (Ihave tried to hide this fact in these photos!)

I'm not feeling incredibly inspired at the moment :( I'm working everyday but christmas day next week which may leave me soul-less, I apologise in advance for being a bad blogger!

jingaling

Has everyone done their christmas shopping yet? I've been so busy the last few days and still haven't got my mums present, it's getting bad!

I went to London yesterday, saw some friends and I'm going back to London on thursday but that's another story (all will be revealed at a later date!)

How amazing are the decorations in Carnaby St? Rather girly but I love them!

This is a coat I customised- I sewed leopard print faux-fur over the collar :) I'm quite pleased with the results!

standing by my statement

On Mary Kate and YSL

Statement necklaces are a great accessory- they can dress up a very simple outfit and are incredibly fun!

My favourites available are from Tatty Devine, Asos and Accessorize

I created my own statement necklace and a youtube video tutorial on how to make yours which you can watch here :)

hairspray

I thought I'd prove that I can make my hair look decent.

I have this really bad habit of doing very little with my hair. it takes so long to make it look decent and don't want to damage it that I usually just quickly straighten it.. or try to, so my standard style is 'kinky-flat-do'. Hairdressers often tell me how great condition/how soft it is, but if I get a bad comment, it's usually on my hair-I even had a mock interview in high school from a man that ran a local company and he said that while I was a pretty girl and well dressed, my hair looked too bad!

Here's a 90s and pin-up influenced outfit I wore friday night! Those with a keen eye will notice I've had a dark rinse over my hair and I've got false lashes on ;) shhhhh

My cute little hello kitty mirror/comb combo is from a market in camden, my blog is becoming the where's waldo of hello kitty haha

fun fun fun

hat-topshop/ castle necklace-disney couture/iron on hello kitty patches-h&m kids/tank-urban outfitters/trainers-puma

My rare dabble into jean wearing! I went for a tokyo-girl-popstar look.

I got some new trainers (sneakers) for work, they're not broken in yet and really bright! I always get intimidated by bright white trainers so usually try scuffing them up a bit, it's a difficult thing to do though!

I've been looking at gym memberships, while I walk a great deal, I've been eating a great deal lately and need to tone up desperately before christmas...but can I commit to the monthly fee and show up? gyms are so boring, but the weathers too nasty to do any outdoor activities.. there are definately more pro's than con's for sure! do any of you work out? what do you do to keep yourself amused while on the rowing machine? how do you stay motivated to go more than once a week

Also, I'm going to start linking my favourite blogs on the side bar- anyone want to do tradings (you list mine, I list yours) just let me know in a comment :)

drove my chevy to the levee

I've had lots of fun wearing my boots this week, they make a proper whip-crunch noise when I walk, don't you just love shoes that do that?

My attempt at doing something fancy with my hair, alas it is not long enough :( I love watching youtube clips to learn how to do hair styles like this one

I've been bargain hunting and managed to get some nice rags from urban outfitters online sale, so much easier than walking through a store filled with far-too-pricey items and sheepishly looking through the sale rale. Plus working in a clothes store once put me off EVER going near a sale for a good long time

I got rejected from one of my top uni choices this week :( without even an interview, I was rather annoyed, as I'm willing to bet every where else is going to reject me now. But oh well, you win some you loose some! And I have got a place at one so I can't complain too much

But to cheer myself up completely, I bought a Robert Downey Jr calendar ;)
